Dr. Alaguraja Palanichamy is currently working as a Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Jai Shriram Engineering College, Anna University, Tirupur, His area of specialization is in the field Application of Geospatial Technologies in Land Evaluation, Hydrometeorology, Agroclimatology, Agriculture and Water Resources. Academic Awards and Distinctions He was awarded with Dr. S. Radhakrishan National Post Doctoral Fellowship Award 2015 to 2018 by University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt of India. He also was awarded DST Inspire Fellow for Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) in 2011 by Department of Science & Technology (DST) Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Govt of India. Ph.D., Researcher Fellowship (2011-2013) He was also Awarded Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) in 2010 by University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi. He had done his Ph.D. Degree in 2013 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. M. Manivel in Bharathidasan University. He secured 84.77% of marks in M.Tech Programme in Geohydro Informatics in Bharathidasan University (2008 – 2010) and got University GOLD MEDAL with distinction (D++). Hence he was awarded a “Professional Course National Scholarship” for M.Tech., (Geohydro Informatics) by University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India, New Delhi He completed his M.Tech, Geohydro Informatics, Department of Geology, Bharathidasan University and Tiruchirappalli (2008-2010) He completed his B.Sc., Geography and M.Sc., Applied Geography in the Department of Geography, Government Arts College (Autonomous) Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore in the year (2003 – 2006 & 2006 – 2008). He has presented research papers in 35 International and 56 National level seminars and conferences. He was published 45 research papers in both National and International levels. He was published at national level one book “Rainfall and Groundwater Reliability for Cropping using Geospatial Techniques” Publisher: Archers & Elevators Publishing House, Bangalore (2016). He was Member and Alumni of the Board of Studies in Geography, Government Arts College, (Autonomous), Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore (2018 - 2021) He was editor in international journal of Geography and Regional Planning. Crusader of Human Rights award 2007 issued by Hon'ble High Court judge Justice: K.Mani Pillai and RTA State Information Commissioner: G.Ramakrishnan IAS (Tamizhaha Human Rights Organization, Chennai. and Bharathi Yuva Kendra “Swamy Vivekanandhar” Award was given by Swami Dayananda Saraswati- 2007. During M.Tech, Geohydro Informatics, He got Gandhi Memorial Merit cum Award, Govt. of Tamil Nadu – 2009 and he invited as a “Judge” for Dist. Level Science Exhibition held at Virudhu Nagar Kshatriya Girl's Managing Board on 26th Feb, Tamil Nadu – 2010, invited by All India Radio, Tiruchirappalli for a “Youth Interview Programme” on 24th May 2011. Special invitee for convocation of S. Thangampalam Group of Institutions, Vasudeva Nallur, Thirunelveli -2015. In international Conference on Environmental Science & Climate Change Organized, Karunya University, India & Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), México during 7th to 9th of December, 2016 at Karunya University, Coimbatore he has won “Young Scientist Award 2016” for the Best Paper Presentation.
