Dr. Shambhoo Prasad

Dr. Shambhoo Prasad is Associate Professor in Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He has teaching experience over 15 years on various courses of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology in under graduate, post graduate and Ph.D teaching programme. He has guided twenty M.Sc. students and three Ph.D students as a major advisor and chairman and over 100 students as a advisory committee member. He is working on various aspects of abiotic stresses like drought, submergence tolerance in rice and terminal heat tolerance in wheat by phsiomolecular approaches from last 20 years. He has screened a number of lines for high temperature tolerant in wheat on the basis of membrane stability index, chlorophyll stability index, canopy temperature depression and molecular markers. Submergence tolerance rice lines/ genotypes were screened on the basis physio-biochemical indices like non-structural carbohydrates, superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase activity while drought tolerance on the basis leaf rolling, relative water content, proline content and its validation by molecular markers for both submergence and drought tolerant traits. The author has run successfully projects on heat tolerance in wheat and submergence and drought tolerance from various funding agency as principle investigator.
