Endopelvic fascia is the bottom of the pelvic connective tissue that extends from between the internal organs to the pelvic walls. It is considered the first layer of the pelvic floor. The levator ani muscles and their ligaments are considered the second layer, also called the pelvic girdle. It functions as a horizontal plate with a front opening in the center line. During this pause, the urethra, vagina and rectum pass. The last layer is the perineal membrane (ie the urogenital diaphragm) and is located in the hymenial ring.
