Pharmacotherapy In Prosthodontics
In pharmacology, a drug is a chemical substance of known structure,
other than a nutrient of an essential dietary ingredient, which, when
administered to a living organism, produces a biological effect.1 A
pharmaceutical drug, also called a medication or medicine, is a chemical
substance used to treat, cure, prevent, or diagnose a disease or to promote
well-being. In pharmacology, therapeutics accordingly refers to the use of
drugs and the method of their administration in the treatment of disease.
Drugs play an important role in improving the response of the patient in
both pre-treatment and post-treatment phases.2
