Introduction: Students will be graded on their ability to demonstrate diaphragmatic breathing technique. The diaphragm is strengthened by diaphragmatic breathing exercises. It is a vital muscle for breathing since it accounts for 80% of the normal breathing pattern. Efficient ventilation is shown by the diaphragm's ability to act as the primary muscle of inspiration. During quiet breathing, the oxygen intake of ventilator muscles is minimal. When a patient relies on an accessory muscle for breathing, the mechanical work of breathing (oxygen consumption) increases, and the ventilation efficiency decreases. The diaphragmatic breathing technique emphasises ventilation efficiency, decreases work of breathing, and increases diaphragmatic excursion to boost gas exchange and oxygenation. Diaphragmatic breathing emphasises secretion mobilisation, efficient coughing, and secretion removal. It can also be used to teach relaxation, breathing control, postural awareness, and thoracic and shoulder girdle mobilisation.
