Traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is defined as brain damage caused
by externally inflicted head trauma, can impair a person's physical,
cognitive, and psychosocial function significantly. (1). TBI is a major
public health concern that 2020 has surpassed several diseases as the
leading cause of death and disability. (2) Brain injury is a leading cause
of mortality and morbidity and India's socioeconomic losses. Nonfatal
TBI causes substantial disability with both financial and societal
effects, regardless of the cause. (3) One of the major consequences of
head injury is coma. Coma, it's a condition where there is a sleep-like
state and here the patient makes no purposeful response to the
environment and also the patient cannot be aroused; Their eyes
remain closed and do not open voluntarily; the patient will not be able
to talk; there won't be any intentional movement of the face or limbs;
there won't be any response to any kind of verbal stimulation;
mechanical stimulus might create no response or produce nonpurposeful movement; mediated from spinal cord or pathways of
brainstem. (4) Sensory deprivation occurs in coma patients.
