Manual Of Practical Biochemistry

Manual Of Practical Biochemistry

Authors: Gulab Kanwar, Remesh Kunjunni,
Format: Paperback | Genre : Biochemistry | Other Book Detail

Medical biochemistry deals with the chemistry of human life from the molecular to the cellular level. Laboratory practice of theoretical knowledge in biochemistry is not only interesting but also adds curiosity in young scientific minds. In theory, we know that extremes of pH and temperature cause protein precipitation. In the kitchen, we apply this knowledge to make paneer (precipitation of milk proteins by citric acid or lemon juice) and boiled or fried egg! However, experimenting with the same knowledge in the laboratory is interesting and full of fun. Here, we will also learn the application of biochemical knowledge in the field of medicine, especially for clinical diagnosis. For example, simple tests like heat coagulation tests and sulfosalicylic acid tests help to diagnose the proteinuria in clinical samples.
