Vision is one of the most important senses of human body. A number
of events are involved in forming a clear image. Physiology of vision is a
complex process comprising of the following mechanisms.
· Incidence of light through an object in eye
· Phototransduction i.e. initiation of vision
· Transmission and processing of visual sensations
· Visual perception
Optical System of Human Eye
The ocular structures forming the refractive and optical system of eye
from anterior to posterior comprises of the following (Fig 1.1):
1. Tear Film
2. Cornea- it allows the light to enter the eyeball
3. Aqueous Humour
4. Lens
5. Vitreous Humour
6. Retina
