Dr. A. Venkadesan
From my childhood onwards, spiritualism has been inculcated in me. During
my childhood, I used to play more with idols of God than other toys. Whenever I
go to a temple, I get attracted more towards legends and spiritualism
associated with that temples. Whenever I find time, I read spiritualism section
in the newspaper "The Hindu". Further, with the encouragement of my
parents, my sisters, especially my father (Mr.G.Arunachalam) and my uncle
(Late Prof. K.P. Ramakrishnan, Professor, Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering, College of Engineering (Anna University),
Guindy Campus, Chennai), I started reading books related to spiritualism
when I was in my 20s. My uncle always used to tell me that engineering
knowledge (he quoted engineering because I studied engineering) alone is
not sufficient to become a successful and good human being. Spiritualism
makes a human being complete and good. These words were my inspiration. I
have completed a certificate course in carnatic music (vocal) at Tanjore Tamil
State University. The knowledge in carnatic music further kindled my interest
in spiritualism.
