Psoriasis is a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory, and hyperproliferative
skin disease. The word “psoriasis” comes from Greek words meaning
“the state of having the itch” (1). It affects 2% of the world population.
The disease occurs equally in both sexes and has two peaks of
prevalence: before the age of 30 and after the age of 50 (2). In India, the
prevalence varies from 0.44 to 2.8%, it is twice more common in males
compared to females, and most of the patients are in their third or
fourth decade at the time of presentation (3).
