The present investigation is the very first attempt to record the ethnomedicinal
knowledge of village Chanch, Sult block, district Almora (Uttarakhand). The study has been
reported 17 ethnomedicinal plants from 17 genera with 17 species of Angiosperms (15
dicotyledons, 88.24%; and 02 monocotyledons, 11.76%). Among families, Apiaceae (dicot) and
Zingiberaceae (monocot) dominated with 2 genera and 2 species each, leaf dominated (33.33%)
among the plant parts, while herbs (9 species) dominated among all the habits of ethnomedicinal
plants. According to quantitative analysis, Borago officinalis showed maximum relative frequency
citation (0.06) and Rhododendron arboreum exhibited highest use value (0.40). With enthusiastic
sharing of ethnomedicinal plant information among the local people, this green asset can be passed
