The weaning period is the six month of age where solid foods are introduced and gradually accustomed to the adult solid food, it is the transition period for infants. Non digestible oligosaccharides in human milk have been suggested to contribute to the bifidogenicmicrobiota of breast fed infants. These oligosaccharides are not digested by human gastrointestinal enzymes and enter the colon tract where they serve as fermentable substrates for the colonic microbiota. Several studies have shown that the addition of a mixture of galacto-oligosaccharides in infant formula influences the composition of the intestinal microbiota of preterm and term infants(16-19)
