All children in any country have all the fundamental rights to lead dignified life by accessing the resources available within. The National Policy for Children, 2013 reaffirming in its preamble that “all children have the right to grow in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding”. On the other hand, poverty, urbanisation, industrialization are the major forces which often together or alone influence on the children and their family. Economic inequality in India created many challenges to policy makers to maintain the equilibrium in wealth among its people. Combining with many terrible factors, people led to the creation of many strategies in pursuit of better livelihoods. Jai Prabhakar S. C. is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the Centre for Multidisciplinary Development Research (CMDR), Dharwad, Karnataka, India. After his five-year career as a Resource Person (Anthropology) in Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru. Dr. Prabhakar joined to CMDR in 2009. He received his Ph.D. from University of Mysore, Mysuru. Before his Post graduation he completed his Bachelor of Education course in 2000. He has more than 16 years of research experience in dealing with diverse issues pertaining to dalits, adivasis and destitute children. He had been specializing in health, education and development issues.
