Safety measures must be taken to avoid potential hazards such as electric
shock, toxic vapors & irritants, compressed gases, flammable liquids,
radioactive material, corrosive substances, mechanical trauma, poisons,
biologic materials, cryogenic materials
There are also some general practices adopted for safety in laboratory. The
different general practices viz. smoking, eating, and application of
cosmetics are prohibited. Protective garment must be worn over clothing.
Shoes should be made of nonporous material with closed toes and heels.
Contact lenses should be discouraged. goggles or face shields are
recommended if contact lenses are worn. Dangling jewelry, long hair, and
beards are not allowed. Mouth pipetting should be strictly prohibited.
