Initially experts in robotics study were gathered from the group of three scholars whose expertise is in the fields of robotics technology, mechanical and precision instruments, and hospitality. They made up the value of this study using the scenario that was this the right time to introducing service robots for hospitality to handle the issues of labor shortage and high turnover. The positive outcome enabled us to make the research question on the possibility of introducing service robots and probing possible beneficial factors. In order to triangulate the results, two hotel owners and three industrial robotics experts were invited for the five semi-structured interview conducted in May to June of 2013. The interview questions are given below.

Chun-Min Kuo

Chun-Min Kuo is a Distinguished Professor of the Department of Leisure Industry Management at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology in Taiwan. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in tourism management and a Ph.D. in International Business in Taiwan and an Ed.D. in Education Leadership in the USA. Dr. Kuo’s early experience in hospitality led her to teach hospitality management for over twenty years and to author 17 textbooks related to hospitality operations including hotel management, hospitality marketing, front office operation, housekeeping operation, hospitality, and tourism research, and more than 86 academic papers and reviewers of international journals. She was both director of Hotel Management and Leisure Industry Management Department. Also, Executive Supervisor of Chinese Tourism Management Association and Executive Director of Chinese Agriculture Development Association, etc. She has been conducting projects from the ministry of science and cooperating with enterprises in Taiwan for more than 25 years.
