Social heritage in botany encompasses the accumulated cultural wisdom, ecological understanding, and practical knowledge related to plants that human societies have developed through long term interaction with their environments. This heritage is not static or fossilized; rather, it is a living system of knowledge that evolves as communities adapt to ecological changes, social transformations, and environmental challenges. Unlike formal botanical science, which is often documented through written records and experimental validation, social botanical heritage is preserved through oral traditions, daily practices, rituals, and collective memory. It represents a holistic understanding of plant life that integrates biological, cultural, spiritual, and ecological dimensions.
