Autopsy means to see for one self and is used synonymously with the terms post
mortem or necropsy. A post mortem examination means complete external and
internal examination of dead body.The dissection means is now used for the process of
separating tissues and organs from each other.(dissection = Bisection)
The early history of pathological autopsy is close association with study of Anatomy
John Honter (Anatomist) studied pathology, human anatomy, comparative anatomy,
and embryology, with no sense that he was staying beyond the boundaries of defined
discipline.
